The 4 installations that make the Mother Nature series has evolved individually. My work is generally evolutionary and base on “try and error” methods. They are an observation of the relationship between human civilization or technology, and nature. Each one observes a different aspect of those relations and from a different angel. They all emphasize the “Cause and effect” principle that governs our world and Educational of the responsibility we have, as intelligent beings, to observe those principals and cooperate with nature to maintain her fine balance.
“Cycles of Life” VIDEO
is an artistic interpretation of the continues cycles in nature of life and death. It is a tunable musical and theatrical installation. Received the Elle Fountain Emerging Artist Grant by Durham Arts Council in 2008 and premiered at the NC Botanical gardens in Chapel Hill (September 12 - November 15 2009) in progress. It was completed to function on basic level.
Currently the water are recycled with an electric pump. The completed installation is intended to use “vacuum” principals to pump the water up naturally, and without the need for electric power. The installation is intended to be further tuned, visually and musically. The composition is to be cleaned and refined. |

was entered to the Scrapple Hill Show of art made with recycled and repurposed material and presented at University Mall in Chapel Hill (September-November 2010).
It is a sculpture of Mother Nature Water, emphasizes the delicate balances she maintains in order to provide harmonious conditions for life and beauty such as we observe.
With minor technical adjustments and artistic finishes the sculpture is complete.

Communal Harmony, the most challenging installation of the series is an interactive sculpture that calls for the community to cooperate with each other while being sensitive to the sculptures (Mother nature) natural flow.
The installation is in planning stage- the drawings are schematic and show the basic principals the sculpture’s functionality, they do not reflect the form the sculpture will take.
3 rotating axels connected to each other with flexible “springy’ sheets of stainless steel. As the axels rotate independently, they push and pull the sheets, thus causing the sculpture to change its form, while playing thundery sounds from the sheets. Other sounds such as gongs and bells are created with attached elements (not in the drawings).
The movement of the axels is controlled by sculptured instruments for the whole family, such as bicycle, Children swing and rocking bench for the old. In order to move the sculpture harmoniously the “players” must cooperate with each other while being sensitive to the will of the sculpture. |

“Diary”
concludes the series with old Mother Nature’s reflection over her history with human civilization. Shy invites the audience to sit in her lap and listen to her story:
Once upon a time there was a culture that had no respect for mama……..dvbsdsd.c . bnfvdc.sssvczgadvvcc.ccxxxx...……And they don’t always live happily ever after, (leaving plenty of room for each of us to fulfill the book.
The sculpture is in progress for the past 3 years.
The photos show the sculpture as is in progress supplemented with drawings and digital manipulations.
